Shitters! I wasn’t planning on being back in your inboxes so soon, but it wouldn’t be right to let a Shopbop surprise sale pass without acknowledgement, now would it?!
Last weekend’s rec was decidedly summery, so this time around I wanted to give you all a little something for fall! A week or so ago I was taking a long walk on the Brooklyn waterfront when a woman flagged me down (despite my sunglasses and Airpods) to ask about my shirt. It was the first day I could even consider wearing a long sleeve since spring and I had grabbed my favorite one to wear with leggings because despite having a massive shopping problem, this and/or sweatpants are still my daily uniform of choice (I’m working on it).
The woman was on the phone with a girlfriend and told me that they were literally discussing their need for new long sleeves, and mine was “exactly what she was looking for.” (!!!!!!!) The interaction obviously made my day because I LIVE for sharing things that I love, and I knew afterwards I’d have to share the rec with all of you too. My original plan was to do it in a week or two, but the Shopbop Gods decided to run a 20% off sale and include EVERY COLOR of said shirt, so I’m back in your inbox twice in one week to make sure you can snag it!
The showstopper from the walk was this grey long sleeve by The Great. It’s supposedly cropped, but at 5’5 it hits at the perfect length on me (most long sleeves are WAYYYY too long in the torso for me and I hate when all the extra material bunches up and you have to fiddle around with tucking it in—you can just throw this one on and it’s good to go). It’s relaxed in the body, but not too boxy, and I took the smaller of my two sizes, but depending on the fit you want you could go up or down. It also comes in off white and washed black via Shopbop, and plenty of other colors (that sadly aren’t on sale) are available here.
The Great is one of my favorite brands for comfy cozies in general—they are so good at getting all the vintage-feeling details down and making pieces you reach for again and again. My personal favorites are their sweatshirts—this one is oversized and such a good color and this one is true to size (I tend to reach for it most often because it’s so easy to style in casual outfits in the fall/winter or wear around the house). But to me, it’s always worth it to wait for sales like this one to grab their pieces.
It’s the last day of the sale, and the pickings are otherwise fairly slim IMO (I’d go for these long sleeves and FreeCity’s personally), but the same does NOT hold true for Shopbop’s Mens section—the selection is just INSANE. Think: The perfect date night jeans, easy henleys, a light wool t-shirt, Theory t-shirts!, a winter scarf you’ll have forever, the most gorgeous suede loafers (who puts Ferragamo on sale?!), and a silk/wool combo sweater I would die to have in my own closet. If you are not a man, it is your civic duty to share this information with one today.
This was a quick one, but hopefully useful for you all—my male readers included! Promise I think about you guys too! I’ve had a request for belts, so that is definitely on my radar for an upcoming newsletter, but if you have anything else you want to see, feel free to let me know!
xx,
Priyanka
i accidentally bought that the great sweatshirt at a thrift store a few years ago and it truly is one of the best pieces in my closet!
Was about to comment “why spend $175 on a sweatshirt” but then I remembered I still have and regularly wear all the $100+ Free City sweats I bought as a high school sophomore to fit in with the cool girls... this sale may entice me to get more!!
