Shitters! When it comes to shopping, it’s safe to say that I’ve had a few weaknesses over the years. It started with loungewear during COVID—who among us could resist a matching set?? Then I caught the bag bug. Unfortunately I’m shackled by the confines of a BUDGET, so I am forced to practice some restraint there (keyword being “some”).
But arguably, my biggest weakness of all is a good lip product. Balm, gloss, liner—to me, they are the perfect little treat! They make you feel good, but they’re not bad for you. They’re not terribly expensive, or single-use like a fancy latte or cupcake (though I wouldn’t say no to those either!!). Whether you’re getting them for yourself or for someone else, IMO they’re a gift that keeps on giving! I’ve amassed SEVERAL over the years (as anyone who has been in my bathroom in the past year can attest—it’s the one storage situation I’ve never really figured out), but I want to highlight one in particular that I’ve been reaching for on repeat lately.
This is Ami Colé’s lip oil, and if you are not already acquainted, I feel like I’m about to change your life?? Like a lip gloss, this gives you a hydrated, glossy finish that’s perfect for a night out, but unlike most other lips products out there, it’s doesn’t dry your lips out or disappear into thin air after 15 minutes of wear.
The tint is sheer, and they have several shade options—my all-time favorite is their signature rosy brown color Excellence, which makes me feel like Laura Harrier every time I wear it (can’t put a price on that!!!)! But if you’re looking for lighter options, I also like their soft nude shade Happy, their pinky shade Bliss, and of course, the classic clear, which plays well with everything.
Code SIBAL20 gets you an extra 20% off at Ami Colé!
You can wear it on its own or throw it on top of a lip liner for some extra color—I tend to pair it with pink-y nude liners (their version in Rose Clay is perfect!), but it’s really striking on top of darker ones as well. The cherry on top of it all is that they’re only $20 ($16 with the code!!), which in the world of lip products lately is a SERIOUS bargain!!! The leading lip oil is over two times this price, which is criminal, and not nearly as good IMO! If you’re eyeing more than one shade (whether to keep for yourself or split up among friends), I would go with their Custom Trio—you can pick your own colors, and get a little extra discount too!
The brand itself was created specifically for melanin-rich skin (you may remember Guest Shitter Josie Duffy Rice shouting out their skin tint when she stopped by to share her favorites with us over the summer!), and has had a meteoric rise in the past few years. Now they’re in Sephora’s all over the country, which is so helpful when it comes to seeing and testing shades for yourself!
Hot tip: While we have a code, it’s also worth checking out their mascara! If you’ve been on the hunt for something super natural looking, I cannot emphasize enough—this one is for you!!! I’ve never really found a natural-looking mascara before—of course the products that are marketed that way give you less intense lashes than the ones we used to see commercials for, but even those ones look obviously like makeup when they’re applied. But to me, this one makes you look doe-eyed. It’s a newer-to-me product, but I promise it’s a good one. And at around $15 with our code, it’s another bargain!
Other things I’ve been loving lately: My favorite trouser-y pants made their way into the Shopbop sale—I cannot recommend them enough, they are wildly flattering. I’m OBSESSED with Hanni’s Fatty Stick—it’s a perfect roll-on moisturizer for when you’re on the go or feeling lazy post-shower. Slow-cooker chicken thighs, oh my god. This recipe is essentially just a jar of salsa verde and chicken (I add in corn, scallions, and cilantro, but you can add or lose whatever you like)—I serve it with greens, brown rice, and sour cream and it is SO good. Speaking of my bag collection, I recently picked up this little number in black suede—I typically hate babying my bags, but for this one I’ll make an exception! And I don’t know who else has been watching Industry, but I’ve been HOOKED/ laughing about this comment from Hunter Harris’s Substack chat for the past three days.
This newsletter was written in partnership with Ami Colé! They’re a brand I’ve been a fan of since writing about them in this very newsletter back in early 2023, and I was so excited when they reached out!
If you’re interested in working together, drop me a note at priyanka.aribindi@gmail.com! I would love to hear from you :)
Yes. I love Amicole, and also have a written piece about them in my substack. Let me go get their mascara. I've been listening to a lot of the podcast interviews with the Founder. Have a great one
