Shit I Bought and Liked: Don't Sleep On This Foundation (+ Sephora Sale Picks!)
It wouldn’t be a Sephora sale without a newsletter, right??
Dear Shitters,
It wouldn’t be a Sephora sale without a newsletter, right??
I don’t need to tell you about the pressure to buy things during sales. You’ve probably spent all week fending off sale emails and a for you page full of Sephora pick videos (more on that below…). If you’re a prepared sale shopper, this can be great! (I just scored my favorite white tee at 30% off because I planned to look out for it—if you’re in the market too, know that this one runs a smidge small). But without an idea of what you’re looking for, it can be really easy to lose your head or to get overwhelmed and throw in the towel on the whole thing.
Nothing wrong with towel-throwing if it’s what you/your wallet need to do—I commend your commitment to budgeting (salute emoji!). But if you want to hear about some things I think you shouldn’t miss out on (or should treat yourself to for surviving the great NYC quake this morning!), this one’s for you!
Some quick sale details: Rouge members get 20% off starting today (I placed a La Mer order for my mom last year—that’s why I’m here this early)—VIBs and gen pop get to join the party with 15 and 10 percent off on Tuesday. Sephora brand stuff is 30% off the entire time, which you should take advantage of for this brush in particular. Code is YAYSAVE and plastered all over the site. OK, let’s do it!
I have several longstanding Sephora favorites—I put them all together here for your perusing pleasure! But I wanted to use today’s newsletter to highlight a newer discovery that’s become one of my all-time favorites—Pat McGrath’s Sublime Foundation.
This isn’t an everyday product for me (if I’m wearing makeup during the daytime, it’s always one or both of these by Westman Atelier), but whenever I go out to dinner or an event or really want to step it up and look my best, this is the first thing I turn to. (I put on a full face of makeup while drafting this so I could snap a pic to show you, but my 3am anxiety bedtime did not make the for the best raw materials today, so please refer to this TikTok to see it in action.)
I have tried A LOT of foundations over the years*, but my skin has really never looked better than with this one (did you watch the video?! Insane!). It has a thin, almost watery consistency out of the bottle, and goes on fairly sheer, but I find that it actually covers a lot without looking heavy (I apply less than one pump in total with this brush—a little really does go a long way!).
I also cannot emphasize enough how impressed I am by the shades. If you have even a hint of melanin in your skin, please try this—I’ve never found a better shade match in my LIFE (I wear Medium 18 if that is at all helpful to anyone). Aside from Ms. Pat, some credit is due to the shade matching tool on Sephora’s site—I had very low expectations, but it pointed me to the right one on my very first try!
*I was ready to buy Armani’s tried and true Luminous Silk Foundation during the sale last year, but I ended up liking this one better! So many people are Luminous Silk diehards—it’s a great product, but if you’re in that camp, I promise this is worth trying!
Other Sale Picks I Would Rebuy In A Minute:
Westman Atelier Peau de Soleil: This is like a combination of highlighter and bronzer that I’ve been using it to add a little life to my skin all winter/spring, whether it’s with my everyday products or for a night out. I initially skipped it because I thought it would be too shimmery, but it’s not at all—it’s very natural-looking and the perfect finishing touch on pretty much every look.
Westman Atelier Drops**: An all-time favorite! I feel my best when I’m wearing this. It’s dewy, offers decent coverage when it comes to redness and hyperpigmentation —usually this is all my face needs for a day of errands or a lunch date with friends.
Charlotte Tilbury Iconic Nude Liner: I lost this lip liner last week, so I actually will be repurchasing! This and Anywhere Caffeine are staples in my daily rotation (now is probably a good time to disclose that my lip rotation pretty exclusively ranges from pink-y nudes to brown-y nudes). I have a million and one other lip products, but I like to top both liners off with this Hourglass glossy balm at night.
Danessa Myricks Blush: If your blush tends to disappear minutes after applying, this is for you. Long-lasting, super-pigmented—I tend to like a powder blush, but this got me to believe in cream. My shade is Rosé N’ Brunch.
YTTP Cleanser**: I am constantly singing the praises of this cleanser—it leaves my skin feeling clean but never stripped and dry, and I love the refreshing scent. Don’t sleep on the mini size—it holds enough product to last you a few weeks and you can refill after traveling!
Brushes: I hate spending money on brushes, but my two indispensable ones lately are the aforementioned Sephora foundation brush and Saie’s Buffing Brush** for blending in contour and cream blush. Saie’s gets a lot of hype, but it makes buffing and blending SO easy—it’s truly the only reason I can contour.
Innisfree SPF**: This is the cheapest SPF with zero white cast and zero breakouts/irritation—it would be a crime to let you checkout without one in your cart! I can’t say I’m a fan of the redesign, but I will store it in the medicine cabinet and keep it moving!
**These products appeared in the Most Wonderful Shit of The Year newsletter, except for the Innisfree SPF, but that was an oversight on my part! It should’ve been there!
As for what I’m adding to my cart this time around? Not too much! Clearly I am very well-stocked!!! I’m in desperate need of an undereye concealer—I’m considering this new release by Saie, but if anyone has one they love, please share! I’ve also been eyeing Crown Affair’s Dry Shampoo and a couple anti-humidity products to test out for you all. Will report back with any good discoveries!
If you have questions about anything mentioned here or in the video, drop a line in the comments or reply to this email! Always happy to help you out!! Hope this helped you find some things you’re excited about!
xx,
Priyanka
I love the Cle de Peau concealer for under my eyes. I know it’s stupid expensive but one tube lasted me 4 years (I know it’s gross, don’t judge).
