Shit I Bought and Liked: Mommy and Me Gifts
Shitters! It’s been a minute since I’ve been in your inbox, but I promise I have a good reason! I’m currently reporting to you live from smack dab in the middle of my cross country move, and it’s been… chaotic, to say the least! But distance aside, I think that’s probably because I have more things I love and wanted to bring with me than I have at any other point, and that’s a good thing!
Aside from the furniture and kitchen basics, I feel like I’m coming in with more of those little things that make a place feel homey right from the start. So my fingers are crossed that despite being in a new apartment and a new city, I’ll be feeling settled in at home pretty quickly!
One of those little homey things also happens to be a great Mother’s Day present (and is on sale at the moment!), so in the spirit of helping you make your spaces a little more personal and getting a good gift in time for Mom (clock’s ticking, people!), I wanted to share it with you all.

I’ve mentioned Aura Frames before, but they really are worth their own feature—they are digital picture frames, but they’re made so much more beautifully than the ones you’d come across in Target circa 2010. The frames themselves are gorgeous, the display is super high-resolution, and the brightness auto-adjusts to the light levels in the room, so it never looks too tech-y or out of place.
Instead of having to pick out photos and get them printed in the right size, you can load up to the frame super easily with pictures straight from your phone. You can pick multiple photos for it to cycle through (and adjust how often they change). You can pick one featured photo and change it up as often as you like. You can even add new pictures to a frame you gift to someone else (like Mom!) from wherever you are through the Aura app!
I feel like that feature makes it an especially good gift for parents who have recently become grandparents?! You can send new pictures of the kids straight to their frames and surprise them all the time! I also plan to do this on my mom’s frame with daily photos of myself, but unclear if that will be as well-received…
The frame is SUPER easy to use and set up, and the display quality is just fantastic—I couldn’t recommend it more. If you’re grabbing for mom, you might as well grab an extra for yourself—it really is one of those things you’ll end up wanting, so you might as well grab during the sale. I also feel like this would be a great wedding present (or for an engagement if you’re too nervous to go off-registry for the big day).
This one is soon to be unpacked in my apartment—it used to feature pictures of me and my boyfriend while we were long distance, but now that we’re moving in together, I might need another to cycle through some pictures of friends and family. My mom recently got this one—a very cool choice!—for all of our family vacation pictures. She’s been on Shutterfly for SEVERAL years, so I’m sure the archives will be back to haunt me very shortly.
Speaking of Mother’s Day, here are some other ideas for the moms in your life: A beautiful set of candles. This tea sampler set. Luxe hand lotion—you can find little luxuries at any price point to make mom feel spoiled in the very best way. A handmade card like you made when you were a kid! Fancy pantry upgrades. A massage somewhere nice! This cooling weighted blanket. A splurgey watch (especially if it’s “from” your barely walking/talking kids). My mom’s favorite home scent. A set of chic lip balms. A unique family experience. The NuFace Mini Kit. And of course, the tried and true.
If you’re a mom and you have something on your wishlist that wasn’t mentioned here, please please please drop it in the comments! Everyone’s on the hunt for good ideas for you—why not hear straight from the source?!
Anyways, I hope you moms know how amazing and appreciated you are—these gift ideas are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to expressing our gratitude for everything you do. Here’s hoping you get everything you wish for on Mother’s Day and beyond.
