My dear Shitters,
We’re getting dangerously close to June 13th (which also happens to be the birthday of my patron saints Mary-Kate and Ashley—a big discovery for me at age six!), so it is once again time for the annual birthday wishlist!
Every year I make an appropriately lengthy wishlist of gift ideas—some are realistic, some are in Goop gift guide territory, but all are things I’d be happy to receive, and many would also make great gifts for other discerning people in your life. So yes, this is a wishlist for me, but it’s really more of a guide for you! Nice to see me becoming so thoughtful with age!
Eras Tour Tickets. I have almost entirely given up on seeing Taylor in the States at this point (except maybe in LA?!), but a hop across the pond for a show in London or Paris?! What could be better! Between the premise of this tour and the rave reviews of her performances, this feels like the one to pull out all the stops for. (But also, if you have an extra couple tickets for pretty much any stop on the way, I am ALL EARS.)
A surprise! I love the thought and effort that goes into any kind of surprise, whether it’s a visit, a party, an experience—even a midday treat delivery!
A pinky ring. Jewelry is a gift I love to give to myself to mark an occasion or celebrate a milestone, and I’ve been thinking about adding a pinky ring to my collection for a minute now. I still have to do some hunting for the perfect one, but I’ll report back if/when I find one.
Lady M swapped out my favorite flavor (RIP pistachio!), but I still love their signature crepe cake. If you haven’t tried it, you have to—it’s one of my all-time favorites.
If you live in NYC, recommendations around the city! Do you have an amazing tailor? The best bakery? A great spot to post up and work? I’m grateful for any recs you care to share!
For some reason I cannot bring myself to spend the literal $9 on this Mielle Hair Oil—someone please just get this for me.
An hour with Sofia Richie’s dermatologist. For anyone who has seen Sofia Richie’s face, there is no further explanation necessary.
A weekend trip to Charleston! Now that I’m back on this coast, it’s time to cross this off the bucket list! Bonus points for making the reservations in advance.
If I ask for Hermes Chypres will you just laugh in my face?
A chocolate almond croissant from L’Appartment 4F. A balanced birthday breakfast!
A Wilding Gua Sha. I’ve been getting back into gua sha-ing (?), and even though I’ve had a perfectly good stone for years, I’ve been eyeing this one and its grooved side as an upgrade.
A trip to Wish Fine Jewelry. I officially follow too many Miami influencers and will not be satisfied until I have an ear full of dangly diamonds that would make me the perfect target to rob in broad daylight.
A jar filled with a million different compliments that I can pick out and read whenever I’m feeling down.
Literally anything homemade. Cookies! Friendship bracelets! A card I can put up on my fridge! I love it all.
2lb Bala weights. Someone’s ready to upgrade from the 1’s!!!
I made the mistake of trying on the Tiffany Lock bracelet in rose gold (with the diamonds, just to torture myself) and I regret to inform you all that it is indeed perfect (and that I wear a size small…).
Spend an hour with me at a perfume shop sampling scents. That’s it! No purchase necessary! Just your time and your nose for fragrance feedback!
Is it too late to get the big Bottega Pouch? What about via resale? A white clutch is just about the least practical bag in the world, but who really wants something practical for their birthday…?
A gift card to Free People Movement. Turns out, I would be happy with something practical!
I’m a sucker for any kind of dried/eternity flower arrangement, but I especially love these Eternity Anthurium flowers in burgundy! I’m imagining this chic vase on a console in my entry way. Just perfection.
Tickets to see Jodie Comer’s one woman show, Prima Facie.
A journal for a writer? Groundbreaking!
Everyone has those things that they do for personal upkeep, but really hate paying for. For me, it’s nails—if you got me a manicure, I would honestly be thrilled.
Rights to bodily autonomy for all. Yes, I’ve assembled a mild to majorly outlandish wishlist for the world to see, but you can’t say I’m not a good person!
Another sinkhole to open up at Mar-a-Lago. Apparently not that good a person…
Aside from dreaming of my endless wishlist, I’m also spending some time ahead of the big day thinking a little more seriously about who I am at 28, who I want to be at 29, and how to bridge those gaps. If you have any things you wish you knew as a late twenty-something or birthday rituals (serious or silly!), drop me a note! I’d love to hear from you!
xx,
Priyanka
**The Ferragamo clutch that appears in the collage is conveniently MISSING from the list—oops! It’s timeless, beautiful, and happens to be listed for well below retail price!
Omg, welcome to NYC! Let's grab a coffee + croissant when you are settled :)
I have friends whose birthday is on June 13th (they’re twins) - they turned 13 the year their birthday was Friday 13th, satisfyingly.
