Shitters! I hope you’re all easing your way into the new year and not spiraling too hard about the fact that it’s officially twenty twenty FIVE (!). We had so many good finds together last year, but before we can get into all the new things to come, I’d be remiss to not recap our favorites! (Also, if you had any good finds from this newsletter or look forward to reading it, I’d really appreciate if you could hit the heart-shaped Like button at the end of this letter! It’s helped so many people find us and allows this newsletter to grow! Thank you!)
Here’s the Shit I Bought and Liked Most of All in 2024:
Beauty
Extreme Cream: This was easily one of my favorite discoveries of the year! It’s rich and hydrating and is more than comparable to products that are six times the price (I’d take this over the Bader Rich Cream any day). It makes your skin look incredible on its own, and is such a good base under makeup. If there was one winner of everything I tried this year, this was it. Bonus points for easily refillable packaging and a very cute travel size!
Crown Affair Hair Clips: I did not shut up about these clips in 2024, They hold way more hair than your average clip so much more securely and are really beautifully made. I wear them nearly every single day.
Overnight Face Masks: These inexpensive face masks have become a staple in my routine! I like to wear them to bed the night before a big event, or even just heading into the weekend for the happiest, plumpest, most hydrated skin.
Beauty of Joseon SPF: The Feds can pry my contraband Korean sunscreen out of my cold, dead hands!!! They have an American version of this now (SPF 40 instead of 50, along with other formulation differences because the FDA is lightyears behind where it should be in terms of sunscreen filters—the bottle looks like this), but the OG is the only one I buy.
Salt Scrub: If you oil your hair or just need a good deep clean, use this in the place of shampoo. It really gets in there to get rid of buildup and dandruff and smells so nice. I use a generous amount once every week or two and my first tub is still going strong.
Emi Jay Big Clips: You’re already getting your small clips from Crown Affair— your bigger ones should be these. My favorite is the bordeaux (currently sold out), but I spent all Christmas break admiring this earl grey version on my sister.
Style
Doen Dress: I knew I loved this Doen dress, but I didn’t realize how many of you would too! It’s easy and comfortable, but still dressy enough for dinner or nights out and about. It’s still available in black (mine is the navy version, but very similar).
Beyond Yoga Onesie (and Leggings!): The softest, most comfortable onesie! I got this for pilates/yoga, but more often than not I throw a sweater on top of it and wear it all day. The fit is flattering but isn’t entirely compressive, which makes it comfortable enough to spend hours in, and it’s so soft that you won’t want to take it off. I took my true size, but could’ve sized down (likely because I’m on the shorter side). This pair of leggings is also amazing (and ever so slightly different from my million and one black pairs). The crossover waistband is particularly flattering.
Rabanne Ball bag: I have a pretty decent bag collection going, but this is easily my most complimented one! It’s an easy way to make a simple outfit more fun and interesting, and has been such a conversation starter at parties, restaurants, bar bathrooms—you name it! Plus it has enough room for all the night out essentials (phone, keys, cards, lip balm/liner). What’s not to love?
Butter Soft Bralettes: I started 2024 off with zero of these in my underwear drawer; I ended it with four. They are that good.
Mesh Flats: I wore these nude mesh flats EVERYWHERE this year! I think of them as the fashion girl equivalent of toe shoes, except not nearly as weird-looking? I was nervous that they’d be too trendy, but I love the way they look and they’re so comfortable for walking all over the city.
Didi Rose Chain: This was a splurge, but my favorite addition to my jewelry collection this year! The chain is completely handmade by a jeweler in Georgia and looks like a vintage piece. It’s solid 14k gold, so it won’t tarnish or bend, and IMO it’s the perfect size—enough to make a statement, but not too much with most outfits. I added this T-Bar charm to the end of mine and wear it pretty much every day.
Misc. Shit
Cervical Spine Neck Pillow: LIFE CHANGING. I’ve spent years with aches and pain in my traps and shoulders and have tried so many things to help calm them down. This one swap made the biggest difference of all.
Salt and Stone Deodorant: SIBAL made its big magazine debut in NYMag last year, and this deodorant is what I wrote about! It really does smells better than most every perfume, and is the only remotely effective clean deodorant I’ve tried. My favorite is the Neroli and Basil, but this new addition is incredible too.
Mini Water Bottle: This is the cutest little thing and SO much easier to bring along with you than a full-size water bottle. As someone who’s always thirsty, this is in my bag on almost every errand I run. I consider it an essential for NYC living.
Onino Chili Crisp: Macadamia nuts in chili crisp? Brilliant! I put this on eggs, fish, salad, etc. for a kick and some crunch! It’s incredible.
The Great Sweatshirt Socks: No link because we quite literally sold The Great out of the coziest socks of all time. Behold the power of shitting!!!! Now we beg them to bring them back in 2025!
Past Favorites:
New here? Feeling nostalgic? Take a look at some of our favorites from 2023 and 2022! These things really did stand the test of time. I’m proud to say that I still use/love almost every single one (though Commando beats Skims, sorry Kim).
Anything I missed?! If you have favorites of your own (from here or elsewhere), please share with the class!! Looking forward to even more fun finds this year and to sharing them all with you! Thank you so much for being here ♥️
i bought the sweatshirt socks for my husband this year right before they sold out!
i’ve been eyeing the doen dress—wondering if it runs tts for you! (i’ve heard mixed reviews, maybe bc of all the ruching)
